Uphill House B&B guests are treated to a two-course breakfast each morning and we offer convenient dining times at 8:30am or 9:30am. Sam and Suzanne are your "chefs in residence” and their theme is “creative comfort” (Note: you will not be hungry when you leave the table). Our dining room offers family-style seating, private seating for two, and we have a beautiful deck, so when the weather is nice let us know if you would like breakfast outside. For those special occasions, check out our Packages as we can set up a wonderful "breakfast in bed!" Our guests rave about breakfast, but do not just take our word for it, check out our TripAdvisor Reviews (we also post recipes to our blog and have recipe books for sale in our Gift Shop). We look forward to spoiling you!
When you reserve a room at the B&B make sure to let us know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. We are more than happy to offer vegetarian, vegan, lactose-intolerant, or gluten free options for breakfast. Our gluten-free griddle cakes are earning quite a reputation as are our egg soufflés.
Coffee from local Orange, Virginia roaster Orange County Roasters is brewed and available each morning starting around 7:15am. The B&B also features freshly brewed loose leaf tea from Capital Teas in Charlottesville and Miss Minerva’s Tea Room in Culpeper. Even if breakfast time has passed and you would like a pot of tea, just let us know (and make sure to check out Suzanne's tea cup collection)! Our loose leaf tea options vary, but we usually have black, tisane, and green. We also have Keurig stations available 24/7.
Our first course for breakfast is usually fruit-based and the B&B supports local farms and farmer’s markets, so strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, and apples are popular ingredients. We encourage our guests to support all the “farm to fork” opportunities in the area and check out some of our favorites: Miller Farms Market, Liberty Mills Farm, The Market at Grelen, and Carter Mountain. Most places offer “pick your own” so you can bring a little bit of Central Virginia home with you.
Sam and Suzanne love to bake, thus muffins and quick breads often make an appearance at breakfast or are out for snacks during the day! We also are obsessed with cookies, so for those who have a sweet tooth we have you covered too!
The second course for breakfast alternates daily between sweet and savory and some guest favorites are our broccoli, ham, and cheddar cheese quiche and cream cheese stuffed Swedish pancakes with a berry compote. “Made from scratch” is the name of the game at the Uphill House B&B and Sam’s pie crust she makes for her quiche is a three-time winner at the Gordonsville’s Fried Chicken Festival.
Does your schedule have you leaving early and you’re afraid of missing breakfast? No worries - we offer “breakfast to-go,” so just let us know! Our breakfasts to-go will start your day off right with our signature “breakfast in a muffin cup,” granola bars, and fruit and we also have to-go coffee cups or bottled water. We pack everything in brown bags and napkins/utensils are included.
